Yoga for Menopausal Relief

Are you experiencing menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, insomnia, irritability, fatigue, mood swings, and fuzzy thinking?

 

Did you know that a customized, regular yoga practice can help alleviate these symptoms?

All women journey through menopause, and it's often a rocky road. The fluctuating hormones that mid-life brings cause an internal tug-of-war that usually results in some disruption to normal life. Some women suffer severe, debilitating symptoms.

 

A consistent yoga practice can diminish menopausal effects by cooling, calming, and supporting the body and mind. This workshop will offer just such a practice, and you'll leave with a handout that will enable you to care for yourself at home.

 

The Help Yourself Series

Many of us have aches and pains in our bodies that we somehow just start "living with." What if you knew some simple techniques to help relieve everyday aches and pains in your feet, knees, hips, and back? This series of workshops will teach you how to move toward better body alignment and have less pain!

 

The Help Yourself Series: Feet and Knees

Relieving pain in the body begins at our foundation, our feet! Sometimes our feet give obvious clues that we’re misaligned, such as bunions, callouses, and uneven wearing on the soles of our shoes. Sometimes the clues are less obvious! Learn how to stand & walk properly so that over time and with consistent practice, your body will come into better alignment and you’ll have less pain. We’ll also explore the very vulnerable knees, and learn how to protect them. Some yoga experience is preferred, as we’ll incorporate learning with a full, basic asana practice.

 

The Help Yourself Series: Hips and Low Back

Hip, Hip, Hooray! You can alleviate that aching lower back and those hips by opening & strengthening your body, and adjusting your posture. Over time & with consistent practice, your body will come into better alignment and you’ll have less pain. Some yoga experience is preferred, as we’ll incorporate learning with a full, basic asana practice.

 

The Help Yourself Series: Psoas and Abdominals

The psoas (pronounced SO-AZ) is actually TWO muscles deep inside the belly. Not only will we FIND these muscles during this workshop, but we’ll also learn how to lengthen and strengthen them, and begin to understand why the psoas is considered our “second heart.” The cause of your aching back might very well be a tightly contracted psoas! We’ll also work the abdominals, with not a single sit-up! Over time & with consistent practice, your body will come into better alignment and you’ll have less pain. Some yoga experience is preferred, as we’ll incorporate learning with a full, basic asana practice.

 

The Help Yourself Series: Neck, Shoulders, and Upper Back

Whether we’re sitting at a computer, driving a car, or watching the game on TV, 21st century living constantly brings us forward in our bodies. This leads to tightness and pain throughout the neck, shoulders, and upper back. Learn how to unwind this tension and protect your vulnerable shoulders by strengthening and opening your body, and bringing it into better alignment. Over time & with consistent practice, your body will come into better alignment and you’ll have less pain. Some yoga experience is preferred, as we’ll incorporate learning with a full, basic asana practice.

 

Restorative Yoga plus Yoga Nidra

Do you feel tired, frazzled, over-extended, or just generally stressed out? Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra can help!

 

Through these completely passive practices, you’ll learn how to consciously relax. True relaxation is different from sleeping, and also different from recreational activities such as reading, watching a ball game, or even just chilling out in a comfy recliner.

 

By learning how to retain conscious awareness while deeply relaxing the body, mind, and spirit, you’ll gain powerful personal tools to calm your nervous system, soften your physical body, boost immunity, resolve a sleep deficit, manage anxiety, and so much more. The more often you practice, the greater your skill and the more generally relaxed you’ll feel.
